INSTALLATION STREETWALKER SLUICE

PARK & SCHOTEL FESTIVAL

Will be showing sculpturen in the Church in Esbeek, the Netherlands, from June 25th until July 10th connected to the Park & Schotel this weekend 25-26 June.

GINO VAN WEENEN - KEETJE TIPPEL

For the occasion poet and performer Gino van Weenen has written a wonderful poem. Like the installation Streetwalker Sluice this poem is in remembrance of the former street prostitution area in Rotterdam West.
The poem is placed behind one of the windows of the gallery space for the visitor and passerby to enjoy.

Poem and a photographic print have been combined in an edition (of 10) which is available through the artist, the poet or Galerie Lecq. It is available for the very special price of € 20 plus shipping.

For the opening of the installation 'Streetwalker Sluice' in Galerie Lecq we prepared some virgin cocktails, as it is not allowed to consume alcohol in public space ...

STREETWALKER SLUICE

Showing from 22nd May until 24th July at Galerie Lecq in Rotterdam the installation Streetwalker Sluice.
The installation is a memorial to the former street/heroin prostitution area of Rotterdam. Prostitution was condoned here in the 1980's and '90's until the area was wiped clean and heroin prostitution abolished from the city. Streetwalker Sluice is therefor a monument to the rough edges Rotterdam was renowned for late 20th century and now steadily being gentrified.

Besides the installation an edition has been published in cooperation with poet/writer/performer Gino van Weenen. He has written a poem especially for the occasion which has been paired with a night view image of the installation.
The edition is available at the opening 22nd May at a reduced price. It can also be ordered by sending an email.
